This and American Comedy Co are the best comedy clubs in San Diego. The headliners are consistently excellent. Between the openers and headliners, most shows go for over an hour and a half, which is a great value for the price. The two drink minimum is fine, and even when you account for that, the tickets are a good deal. Seating is open and a little tight, but that adds to the ambience. The no phone policy with yondr bags is a great addition that limits interruptions and distractions. I’m always excited to grab tickets when I recognize a comedian on the event calendar.
Was not too bad it’s a nice venue. The room is appropriately size and you can get close to the performer if you come a bit early. There’s a two drink minimum, but you have a choice of soda, water, beer, wine, or other mixes. You can also get a soda water to take home for a couple of bucks more. Popcorn was five $. If you like stand-up comedy, this is definitely the place to go if you’re local
My companion who is sober and in recovery ordered a virgin mocktail and was served an alcoholic drink by an inattentive waitress who said she put in the wrong order!! Not an insignificant screw up. An already drunk patron was seated next to us and instead of moving him we were forced to be moved to poor seats in the back. Poor form. Would not return.
I’ve been to a lot of comedy shows across the country. Throughout the night as usual, some clearly were more experienced than others but everyone gave their best shot. But the fake Italian accent guy deserves no part of being on a comedy stage. He single handedly ruined your show with his derogatory comments for 10 minutes straight about mentally handicapped individuals. A joke here or there, sure, but the way he went on for 10 minutes was disrespectful to comedy and honestly ruined the entire 2 hours prior to it for me. I hope your company can make the proper changes that the entire audience clearly noticed too. Everyone after the show thought the same thing and was vocal about it. It was a decent night, but would have been much better had we not had to listen to him. Honestly was appalled, and this is the first time I’ve ever felt this way after a comedy show. I understand it’s fair game when up there, but this was unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed.
I love The Comedy Store! It is an iconic venue in San Diego. I used to go pretty regularly but hadn't been in years until this year (2023) when I attended Whitney Cummings, Michael Yo, and Pauly Shores shows. It was great to see that it hadn't changed a bit. The venue is still this neighbourhood hot spot that brings in top talent old and new. If you haven't been know that a queue forms before doors open. Seating is first come first served and based on the size of your party where you are seated. There are no bad seats in the house. There is no food served at The Comedy Store but they do sell fantastic popcorn and have a full bar and make pretty good cocktails. If you're looking for a low key night out or a date night this is a great choice. Keep up the good work, Comedy Store!
